***SOLD*** 1960 Metropolitan Convertible – $35,000 OBO
We are offering a gorgeous 1960 Nash Metropolitan Convertible that just received a complete nut and bolt restoration. It is one of the best examples you will see of the most desirable “Series IV” convertibles. This car came to us as a rock solid, straight and rust-free California car. It was completely stripped down and every component, nut and bolt was removed to prepare the car for paint. Minimal body work was needed, and the car was painted in its original Autumn Yellow over Frost White using the high quality single stage paint, as original, then wet sanded and buffed to a beautiful shine. All the chrome was stripped and triple plated, and all the stainless was straightened and polished. All other components of the car were completely disassembled, cleaned, and rebuilt or refurbished using new parts where available. Everything was painted or powder coated before reassembly. The engine and transmission were professionally rebuilt to factory specifications. The steering, suspension and brakes were all completely rebuilt. New fuel and brake lines were installed, and the whole car was re-wired with a new lacquer coated braid-over-strand harness as original. The interior was finished in a perfect reproduction of the original upholstery fabric and heat-seamed vinyl. Brand new Firestone wide whitewall bias-ply tires were installed. Every effort was made to keep the car as original as possible, with a few slight changes and upgrades. Polyurethane suspension bushings were used for better handling and longevity. Black carpet was installed in the interior as an more comfortable and luxurious option over the original rubber floor mats. We chose a convertible top, boot, and spare tire cover in white instead of the original black as a more attractive option. Everything on this car looks and works as well or better than when it rolled off the production line.
***SOLD*** 1960 Metropolitan Convertible – $25,000 OBO
This gorgeous 1960 Nash Metropolitan Convertible is a terrific example of the most desirable “Series IV” car, with the high-compression 1500cc engine, vent windows and trunk lid (believe it or not, the earlier cars did not have a trunk lid). This car was lovingly restored over the course of 8 years by a long-time Metropolitan aficionado who was very active in the Southern California-based Metropolitan Owner’s Club, Ltd. The body is laser-straight and free of rust. This car features custom paint and upholstery among other tasteful custom details, while maintaining the original body and drive train. The rear end features SUPER RARE dealer-optioned reverse lights! Upgrades such as a Weber carburetor, front disc brakes and polyurethane suspension bushings make for a better driving and handling car over stock. Everything is in working order, and it needs nothing but to be enjoyed.

***SOLD*** 1960 Metropolitan Convertible – $8500 OBO
This is a TRUE BARN FIND very original California black plate Metropolitan. It was pulled out of a storage shed where it had sat for decades, having last been on the road in 1988. The body is laser straight with absolutely NO rust and NO previous repairs. Much of the original paint appears to be still on the car, with some evidence of a partial respray at some point. The single stage paint was been cleaned and buffed, but there are several chips and nicks all over from time. The only damage is a small dent on the driver side door. The gaps and body seams are all original and perfect. The doors shut and latch smoothly under their own weight which is near impossible to find on a convertible. The interior still has all the original upholstery, although at nearly 60 years old it will need to be redone. The convertible top frame is complete and also included, but not installed. It will need a new top.
We ran a compression test on the engine that showed all four cylinders between 145 and 155 psi. After changing the oil and filter, rebuilding the carburetor and fuel pump and flushing out all the old gas, we easily got it started and running smoothly. The cooling system was flushed and the thermostat and all radiator hoses changed. A new generator and battery were installed. The brakes were completely gone through with new master cylinder, wheel cylinders, hoses, shoes and drums. The clutch master and slave cylinders and hose were also replaced.
This is one of the cleanest, most original Metropolitans we have ever seen, and these are all we work on. It is also the most desirable model, being a convertible Series IV (high compression engine, wing windows and trunk lid). With a small amount of additional TLC this car can be a great little driver quality cruiser for ice cream runs, car shows, cruise nights, cars & coffee or whenever you want to get a lot of smiles and thumbs-ups. It could also make a great candidate for a restoration as there is no rust repair or bodywork needed.

***SOLD*** 1959 Metropolitan Convertible – $13,500 OBO
This 1959 Metropolitan convertible is a mildly customized older restoration from the early ’90s with only one owner since then. The car has been lovingly cared for, regularly started and driven, and serviced annually. The “burnt orange” paint still shines very well with some minor imperfections. The body and underside are solid with no major rust issues. The car started life as a hardtop and was was treated to a professional conversion with strengthening done to the structure of the car. The interior was done in white vinyl with black carpet, and is all still intact with no rips or tears. The vinyl is a bit weathered, but could be enjoyed as is. The electrical system including the wipers, heater, all the lights, etc is all functional. The engine was just tuned up and runs great. Registration is current and clean title is in hand.
